Three Million Meals!

It may have been just another day and another tasty meal for lucky customer Andrew Tremayne, but his purchase of Somerset Larder’s three millionth meal this week not only marked a fantastic milestone but also highlighted the company’s position as a strong and successful link in the Hinkley Point C (HPC) supply chain.

Andrew, of Hydroline Solutions Ltd, was given a free meal after a routine visit to the canteen turned out to be a somewhat significant one. This impressive landmark is just the latest in a long line of successes for Somerset Larder, which specialises in providing locally sourced food to team members at HPC.

Hard Work and Dedication

Last year the team scooped gold in the ‘Environment and Sustainability’ category at HPC’s Excellence Awards and was recently named ‘Best Medium Employer of the Year’ at the Bridgwater College Apprenticeships Awards.

Vicky O’Connor, Catering Operations Manager at Somerset Larder, believes that this recognition is the result of the team’s continued hard work and dedication to delivering HPC’s Quality Commitments.

She said:  “We’re passionate about looking after the health and welfare of our customers. This milestone makes us feel really proud, while also putting our achievements into perspective.”

Substantial Growth

The award winning catering company is enjoying substantial growth. It has recently extended its offering so that business is operational 24/7, the core canteens are benefitting from a rebrand and retail shop extensions are meeting increased demand.

“It’s a really exciting time for employment at Somerset Larder as the project expands and our company grows,” Vicky added. “There is a lot of career progress available for our talented team of chefs, general assistants, retail assistants, baristas and apprentices. With so many service innovations and developments here, the opportunities are endless.”
