Job Description

The salary we offer for this role is £21,737 gross per year (£10.69 per hour). This is an apprenticeship position employed to work and study for the Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship standard at level 2.

The training lasts approximately 15 months and work time will be supported through on the job training regular trainer/assessor meetings with the apprentice to support learning and assessment. The apprenticeship requires the achievement of level 2 in English and Maths as well as the hospitality apprenticeship.

Following the apprenticeship, we would expect and hope that the apprentice continues with Somerset Larder.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • To assist in the preparation and cooking of food
  • To serve meals, snacks and drinks
  • To process customer payments
  • To clean all equipment, crockery & cutlery as required
  • Support, operate and provide service in areas including but not limited to: Serveries, Retail, Hospitality, Functions, Coffee Shops
  • To ensure all food is handled in accordance with the standards specified in the Food Safety & Quality Management system (FSQMS)
  • To carry out and record any checks specified by the Supervisor, Chef Manager or Unit Manager
  • To ensure all waste is removed promptly and placed in the correct waste containers in accordance with site waste management plan
  • To carry out tasks in the most efficient manner, considering any production or allergen constraints, to meet customer orders
  • To participate as a HACCP (Hazzard Analysis and Critical Control Points) team member if required
  • To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation and codes of practice
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training that may include off-site and occasionally overnight travel
  • To ensure all raw materials and packaging materials are stored in the correct areas of the site
  • To ensure all production and quality records are complete accurately and on time
  • To assist where necessary in collating traceability information and ensure that all traceability requirements are fully complied with
  • Where relevant, carry out activities required by the accredited FSQMS
  • To receive deliveries and check supplier invoices in accordance with the company systems and procedures
  • Carry out projects or other tasks as requested by the Unit Manager
  • Support the hospitality function of the business by preparing for events and delivering excellent customer service
  • Support the retail outlets and coffee shops within the business, including promoting the business and offering excellent customer service
  • Embrace and actively participate in the Zero Harm culture

Successful applicants will be required to provide a three-year employment history and five-year address history in order to work on Hinkley Point C. They must be able to provide in date photographic ID and their right to work in the UK so that security clearance can be obtained as these roles are based on a nuclear regulated site.
