Somerset Larder produces fresh food and meals to go using locally sourced ingredients from all over the west country. Our philosophy is to nourish the community with amazing produce, to employ local people and to train apprentices for future careers in the catering and hospitality sector.

Who We Are

Somerset Larder was established in 2014 to bring together the county’s finest food and drink producers – to act as one – in order to compete for large catering contracts. Our vision is for the Somerset Larder brand to not just be known in the west country, but also way beyond that. Promoting the best produce from this bountiful corner of the UK to the rest of the world, creating a business which will benefit the region’s food and drink sector far into the future. With our help small suppliers get a bigger bite of the pie, and the chance to be part of a bid for larger contracts usually only open to large producers.

What We Do

We work together under one umbrella to fulfil the large and complex requirements of major food supply contracts. We were originally formed to supply food and drink during the construction of EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C. That success has now meant that our reach has expanded into other regional opportunities.

Hinkley Point C’s cafés and shops are now supplied by us with fresh, seasonal food from our Central Production Kitchen, based in North Petherton. As well as feeding workers across Hinkley, Somerset Larder also caters for meetings and events. So far we have provided the food and drink at more than 4,000 events over the course of the building project there!

The suppliers behind our team are very proud, passionate and committed – their produce is of the very highest standard. Our unique supply chain means small producers are able to scale up with us and compete alongside any of the larger catering operations.
