Somerset Larder appoints contract catering expert as General Manager

Following the incorporation of Somerset Larder earlier this year, which has been formed to compete for the expected £80million spend on food and drink during the construction of Hinkley Point C, the company has appointed an expert in contract catering as its General Manager.

Dean Lindsay has more than 30 years’ experience across all areas of catering, including many senior roles supplying catering services to the nuclear industry. His experience and understanding of the culture and requirements within the nuclear industry are second-to-none, providing a strong foundation as Somerset Larder competes for the food and drink contract at the proposed Hinkley Point C development.

Speaking about his appointment, Dean said, “This is a very exciting challenge. The Hinkley Point C project is second in size only to London 2012 from a catering perspective, while the Somerset Larder is unique in its proposition of locally sourcing quality food and drink for the nuclear industry. The suppliers behind Somerset Larder are very proud, passionate and committed, and their produce is of a very high standard. One of EDF Energy’s central requirements is local supply, so Somerset Larder is ideally placed to deliver this for Hinkley Point C.”

Somerset Larder is bidding for the supply of the main catering operations at Hinkley Point C, as well as catering opportunities in the two accommodation campuses. It is already successfully delivering a number of contracts including the supply of Somerset-produced food and drink to the new police headquarters in Bridgwater.
