The aim of Somerset Larder is to bring together the best Somerset produce and expertise, ‘gathered locally and enjoyed globally’. Companies of all shapes and sizes from across the county are welcome to be part of the Somerset Larder.
Somerset Larder is a private limited company (limited by guarantee) that has been formed by some of Somerset’s leading food and drink producers, bringing together the finest produce and knowledge in the county. As a result, we are now able to work together ‘under one umbrella’ in order to fulfil the large and complex requirements involved in major contracts.
Somerset Larder was originally established in response to the requirements around the Hinkley Point C development, as explained by one of our founding directors, Greg Parsons, MD of Somerset Cheddar maker Cricketer Farm:
“While the opportunity for Somerset food and drink businesses was clear, the sheer scale of supply required by EDF Energy provides a huge challenge. The only solution was a collaboration between all interested producers and the resulting formation of Somerset Larder, a company that can provide a central food hub for all Hinkley Point C’s catering contractors. Served exclusively by local food and drink businesses, should Somerset Larder secure the contract then this will provide huge, long term boost for the county’s economy.”
In addition to the Hinkley Point C project, Somerset Larder is also already working on and tendering for a number of additional business opportunities.
